Bathroom Remodel in Miami Shores, FL: A Ribbon of Blue Herringbone

Crisp white stone-look walls, one bold stripe of sea-blue glass, and a double vanity built for two.

Project Overview

Bathroom Remodeling in Miami Shores

Miami Shores is known for its tree-lined streets and established homes. In an older house, a bathroom remodel like this one is a chance to bring in a walk-in shower, better storage and brighter finishes while keeping a calm, classic feel that suits the neighborhood.

MIA Remodeling builds bathrooms throughout northeast Miami-Dade, including Miami Shores, North Miami, Miami Springs and Aventura. Learn more about our bathroom remodeling work, or book a design visit to talk through your space.

Design Highlights

A closer look at the choices that shape this Miami Shores bathroom remodel.

The Stripe That Steals the Show

Instead of covering a whole wall in color, this design runs one tall band of glass tile through the shower. The rectangles are set in a herringbone pattern, so the zigzag carries your eye from the floor all the way up. The rest of the shower stays in large white tiles with soft gray veining, which makes the blue look even brighter.

Why glass tile?

Glass has a glossy, slightly see-through look that catches light differently from the matte white tile around it. In a shower, that shimmer reads like water. Using it as a single stripe keeps the cost of a specialty tile focused where it makes the most impact.

A Double Vanity in Slate Blue

No more taking turns at the sink. The vanity holds two undermount sinks under a white quartz top, each with its own chrome faucet. The cabinet below is a deep slate blue that echoes the glass tile in the shower, with drawers and doors finished in brass bar pulls and knobs.

Sliding or Hinged Shower Door?

This shower uses a sliding panel, which is a smart pick when space in front of the shower is tight. Here's how it compares with a hinged door.

FAQs

Miami Shores Bathroom Remodel FAQs

Why use glass tile as a shower accent?

Glass tile is glossy and reflects light, so even a narrow band of it feels bright and lively. It's also non-porous, which makes it easy to wipe clean. Using it as an accent puts a premium material exactly where it gets noticed.

If two people get ready at the same time, yes. Two sinks and a split counter mean less waiting and less clutter on one side. It does need enough wall length, so we check the measurements early in design.

Yes. Chrome on the plumbing and brass on the cabinet is a popular mix. Keep each finish consistent within its group, all faucets in one finish and all pulls in the other, and the combination looks intentional.

It's a fixed shower head and a handheld sprayer that share one mounting bracket. You can use either one or, on many models, both at once. The handheld makes rinsing the shower and washing kids or pets much easier.

Small mosaic tiles have many grout lines, which gives your feet more grip on a wet floor. They also bend easily to follow the slope toward the drain, which is why they're a classic choice for shower floors.

Work on plumbing, electrical or walls generally goes through the Village of Miami Shores building department for permits and inspections. MIA holds both a general contractor license (CGC1535875) and a plumbing contractor license (CFC1434602), and our team handles the filings and inspection scheduling.
